New Life Ministries

New Life Ministries is a non-profit, 501(c)3, interdenominational Christian organization that has been opening and operating schools since 1998 for the poor in Kyrgyzstan, a newly independent republic of the former Soviet Union. In late 2000, it joined several other international and local organizations to form the Association of Christian Schools of Central Asia (ACSCA).

New Life Ministries helps provide for the basic physical needs (food, clothing, shelter, health care, and education) and spiritual needs (moral education, a chance to hear the gospel, study the Bible, experience Christian community, and learn from Christian role models) of needy children in Central Asia. Our motto, “Children First!” summarizes our philosophy.

We intend to move forward in time from Kyrgyzstan into other nations of Central Asia, opening schools and children's homes there as well.

We hope and pray that this holistic ministry to the next generation will bear fruit not only in changed lives, but in a changed region of the world, as our children take their places as contributing adults in the emerging Central Asia of the 21^st century.

At present New Life Ministries oversees five projects, all in northern Kyrgyzstan. Our strategy is to start with elementary grades, then add on one grade each year as the children progress. This strategy enables us to build slowly and provide a full education of Christian values and nurture. With an eye to the future, New Life Ministries is considering options for acquiring a building for a school in Bishkek.

As the political situation allows, New Life Ministries would like to start schools in central and southern Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

New Life Ministries is run by Founder and President Rev. Jesse Wesley Hughes in cooperation with the Board of Directors in Windsor, North Carolina. Two administrators assist him on the field, Ellen Sarazova and David Beutel. Pastor Allen Byerly chairs the Board of Directors. The other board members are Roy Denton, Treasurer Robin Pierce and Vice President Donnie Pierce, J.T. Hoggard. Additionally, Dan Vagle from Mission of Mercy has recently joined the board in an ex-officio roll.

Since 1999, New Life Ministries has been working in partnership with Mission of Mercy, another interdenominational Christian organization providing holistic ministry to needy children around the world. Mission of Mercy raises funds through individual child sponsorship for numerous projects in 25 countries, including the projects run by New Life Ministries in Kyrgyzstan.

In Kyrgyzstan, New Life Ministries cooperates with the ASSOCIATION OF Christian Schools of Central Asia and works closely with New Life Company of Elder Chi Shan Yang.
